Almost officially an adult student
I visited campus on Saturday to meet with an admissions advisor (a salesperson really, but still very nice and helpful). It was exciting. I chose my outfit carefully. Not too adult, but not too 40-something-trying-to-look-like-student, either. I carried a messenger bag. I felt like I belonged there. A good start. There was a Starbucks on campus, because where isn't there a Starbucks (funny story, apropos of nothing...I was in a meeting at work some time ago. We were waiting for several people to arrive, so there were several conversations occuring at once, and I was listening to 2 coworkers talk about a recent trip to NYC...apparently, there's an intersection in Midtown where 3 of the 4 corners are occupied by Starbucks. Another person, who had appeared to be absorbed in his laptop and not aware of the conversation, chimed in at that moment (for some reason, his Indian accent made the comment much funnier) "yes, I know what you mean. I was at Starbucks last week. I went to use the men's room, and they had turned it into another Starbucks.") Anyway, I sat for a few minutes with my grande iced tea and basked in atmosphere. I'm looking forward to this.
